Add Form Field for Digitial Signature to Existing PDF on Last Page

Question

Hello,

I was reviewing the capability of your product and was trying to confirm if I could achieve the following functionality.

  1. I have an existing .NET application (C#) that stores .PDF files on the Web server in a folder. (The .pdf files are not scanned images.)
  2. Each file has a corresponding database record that stores metadata about the file (not storing the file as a BLOB)
  3. One metadata element in the database is the FileID which corresponds to the file name on the file system.
  4. Today I can click a hyperlink in the web application and download the file.

What we want to accomplish.

  1. Add a PDF Digital Signature Form Field to the Last Page of a .PDF file after the displayed content.
  2. When the user clicks the hyperlink for the file programmatically add the digital signature form field and serve a new PDF file with the Digial Signature form field to the user's web browser for download.

Can you product accomplish this capability?

We are very interested and have a short implementation time, any reference code you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer

Thanks for the question Sadiyq, I've provided some answers below.

  1. Quick PDF Library doesn't include a feature that will let you digitally sign a form field or have a visual representation of the signature on the page. Rather, it lets you add document level digital signatures that are visible in the Signatures panel in Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Nitro PDF and other conforming PDF readers. So as long as you don't need to digitally sign a form field, we'll be able to meet your requirements here.

  2. Quick PDF Library can definitely handle processing files on the fly. This wouldn't be a problem. When the user clicks on the hyperlink our SDK could quickly add a digital signature (and perform any other necessary PDF related tasks as well) to the file and then the updated PDF could be sent to the user.

As far as C# and .NET go, Quick PDF Library has absolutely no problem working in this environments.
