Frequently Asked Question:
compressing pdf files
Hello, I have a pdf file and I want to compress the pdf File for example to 50 dpi. Is this possible with quick pdf?
Thanks for the answer. thomas
PDF files don't actually have a DPI. If you have images embedded within your PDF file, then these images will have a DPI, but the PDF itself won't.
If you want to reduce the file size of a PDF, then this article at Planet PDF about reducing PDF file size, will help you.
The CompressContent function in Quick PDF Library will allow you to reduce the file size in some cases, depending on what type of objects are in your PDF, but it won't allow you much control over what gets compressed in the PDF -- nor will it dramatically reduce the file size.
Even though PDF files don't have a DPI, you could try rendering your PDF to an image at a particular DPI and then converting it back to PDF. This would only be suitable if you didn't mind that your new PDF would be an image-only PDF and no text, etc, would exist in the document.
