Is it possible to sign a file and then encrypt it? I can sign the file and view the signature okay but when signing and encrypting the signature is shown as unknown.

Logic suggest that you must sign the document as the last step otherwise the signature will be invalid. Have you tried to encrypt the document before signing it ?
